Parks and Rec Month Brampton 2024

With June marking the beginning of summer, the City of Brampton is taking the opportunity to take part in Ontario’s Recreation and Parks Month.

This incentive will include various free activities in Brampton-area parks. According to city officials, this year’s theme is Community Thrives Here, which focuses on outdoor park spaces, trails and other green spaces throughout the city.

According to an official release from the city, a wide selection of drop-in programs at selected Brampton parks are available for those interested. These include outdoor yoga sessions, summer fitness activities and a trail exploration program.

“Recreation and Parks Month is a chance to highlight the diverse benefits of these amenities and the positive impact they have on our community,” said Brampton’s Commissioner for Community Services Bill Boyes in an official statement.

Many of Brampton’s outdoor highlights include but are not limited to:

  • 425 parks
  • 600km of trails, paths and cycling infrastructure
  • 346 playgrounds
  • 136 sports fields
  • 19 splash pads
  • 16 pickleball courts
  • 2 outdoor pools

“From fitness activities and environmental initiatives to community-building events, there is something for everyone. Our commitment to investing in and expanding these spaces ensures that Brampton remains a vibrant and healthy place to live, work and play. Let’s get active, connect with our neighbours and enjoy the beauty of our city,” said Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown in a press release.
