Shooting sends man to hospital with 'critical injuries' in Brampton: police

Police have laid multiple firearms-related charges against a Caledon man after what investigators are calling a “reckless” shooting incident last week.

The OPP says officers were called to the area of Dominion Street and Forks of the Credit Road in Caledon around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday after receiving reports of what sounded like gunfire.

Officers descended on the location and investigators say a 23-year-old male from Caledon was arrested without incident.

Police didn’t say how many shots were fired in the incident but said no injuries were reported.

“Nobody was harmed as a result of the call for service, and the Caledon OPP considers this an isolated incident with no outstanding threat to public safety,” police said in a release.

The OPP has charged Simran Sidhu, 23, of Caledon with one count each of careless use of a firearm and reckless discharge of a firearm.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on April 25 to answer the charges.
