RECALLS: Sauces, salmon and chocolates recalled from stores in Ontario

Another week and another set of recalls.

Ontario residents are advised to check their homes for the following food items which may contain microbial contaminations and could cause mild to severe health effects if consumed.


Rana brand Tagliatelle Seasoned White Chicken & Mushroom Sauce

Rana Tagliatelle Chicken & Mushroom - 1.14 kg - Front

 

The following batches are affected by the recall:

White chicken & mushroom sauce in the size 1.14 kg with UPC 8 77448 00481 1 — Best Before dates from 2024 Oc.t 10 to Nov. 16 2024.

The sauce contains a microbial contamination called Listeria monocytogenes.

Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may appear normal but can still cause illness. Symptoms include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness.

Pregnant women, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems are at higher risk, which brings on mild, flu-like symptoms. However, the infection can result in premature delivery, newborn infection, or stillbirth. In severe cases, Listeria infection can be fatal.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has initiated a food safety investigation, which could potentially lead to recalls of additional products.

Risks: Poses health hazards.

What you should do: Throw the product in the garbage and contact a healthcare provider if you believe you’ve fallen sick from eating the recalled product.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.

Filet Royal Smoked Atlantic Salmon in the size 170 g — Lot Number: 399417.

The fish contains a microbial contamination called Listeria monocytogenes.

The chocolates contain a microbial contamination called mould.

Risks: Poses health hazards.

What you should do: Throw the product away and do not sell or serve.

The number of reported illnesses linked to the consumption of the product remains unclear.
