RECALLS: Phone chargers, helmets, stoves and bassinets recalled from stores in Ontario

This week multiple products have been recalled from stores in Ontario due to potential health and safety risks.

Residents are advised to check and see if they have these items at home and avoid using them by throwing the product away or returning them for a refund.


Trend Logic 2.1A iPhone Home Charging Kit

Trend Logic Red

This recall pertains to the Trend Logic 2.1A iPhone Home Charging Kit. The affected product is a dual-port USB Type-A wall charger with a 6-foot cable. The chargers come in several colours which include black, silver, red, and purple.

The charger bears the product UPC 818801018588.

The company reported that 1, 440 units of the affected products were sold in Canada between October 2023 and February 2024.

Risks: Poses electric shock hazard.

What you should: Stop using the recalled charger and dispose of it while following your city’s electronic waste guidelines.

As of Feb. 2, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada.


Bell Soquel Youth Helmets

The recalled helmets can be identified by the inner helmet sticker displaying the model name “Soquel” and B0726Y, along with a date code on the white inner label showing August 2021 (“8/21”) or earlier.

Helmets made during and after September 2021 (“9/21”) are not affected by the recall.

Th following helmets are included in the recall:

  • Youth Soquel Blue Lagoon/Poppy—SKU: 7097932
  • Youth Soquel Matte Black—SKU: 7097933
  • Youth Soquel Matte Black Mips—SKU: 7097934

The product issue lies in the strap anchor becoming dislodged from the helmet when significant force is applied.

The company reported that 2,364 units of the affected products were sold in Canada and 2,425 were sold in the United States from March 2018 to July 2022.

Risks: Potential injury hazard.

What you should do: Discontinue using the recalled product and contact Bell Sports for a refund.

As of Feb. 12, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada or the United States.


Frigidaire-Branded rear-control Range

Model FCRE306CAS

The affected product is the Electric FCRE306CAS model with serial numbers ranging from VF34410621 to VF34410752.

The issue is the control panel (user interface) located on the rear of the range can detach from the unit.

The company reported that 129 units of the affected product were sold in Canada and 1,807 were sold in the United States between October 2023 to December 2023.

Risks: Poses electrocution hazard.

What you should do: Stop using the recalled ranges and contact Electrolux to arrange for a free repair.

As of Feb. 1, 2024, the company has received no reports of incidents in Canada or the United States.


Peg Perego Canada YPSI and Z4 Bassinets

This recall involves Peg Perego Canada bassinets, sold separately or as an accessory to the Peg Perego YPSI and Z4 stroller systems.

The bassinets come in various colors and feature a zip-on boot, insert pad, and a foldable canopy. Z4 bassinets bear an “Agio” label on the canopy side.

The manufacture date (YYYY/MM/DD format) and model number are located at the bottom of the bassinet, beneath the pad/cushion and internal lining.

The following model and model numbers are affected by the recall:

  • YPSI—Mon Amour: IN0800NA00BA36

  • Z4—Agio Mirage: IN0800BX00BA71
  • Z4—Agio Gray: IN0800BX00BA53

  • Z4—Agio Black Pearl: IN0800BX00BA13PL63

The bassinets fail to meet Canadian safety regulations as their sleep surface exceeds the recommended incline angle of 7 degrees. Health Canada emphasizes that babies should sleep on their back on a firm, flat surface designed for sleep.

The company reported that 1,180 units of the affected products were sold in Canada between January 2019 to January 2024.

Risks: Poses entrapment and suffocation risks for infants.

What you should do: Stop using the recalled product and fix the inclined backrest of the bassinets by removing the adjustment feature.

As of Feb. 9, 2024 the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada.
