Vacuum cleaner recall Canada

Certain vacuum cleaners that were sold in Canada have been recalled due to fire and burn hazards.

Health Canada said in a notice issued Wednesday that the recalled lithium-ion battery in the vacuum cleaners can overheat and ignite, “posing a risk of serious injury from fire and burn hazards.”

Rowenta brand cordless vacuum cleaners with the affected battery are impacted.

Health Canada said two models are affected: X-Force Flex 14.60 Animal, model number RH99A2U1 and X-Force Flex 15.60 Animal, model number RH99F2U1.

The vacuums were sold in red, black, and silver.

“The Versatile X-Force’s lithium-ion battery model number is ZR0097U2 with a date code that begins with either 23 or 24,” officials said.

“The batteries were sold separately or with the vacuum cleaners.”

There were 550 units of the product sold in Canada from December 2023 to June 2026.

The company hasn’t received any reports of incidents or injuries in Canada as of July 2.

Consumers were advised to immediately stop using the vacuum cleaners and contact Rowenta Canada to get a replacement battery.

The company can be reached by phone at 1-800-418-3325 or via their website.
