Update issued for candy recall in Canada

A recall for certain types of candy has been updated in Canada.

Over the weekend, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency announced that certain Gummy Gainz protein candy products were being recalled due to allergen concerns.

The CFIA says that the affected products are being pulled from the marketplace because they contain milk, “which is improperly declared on the label.”

They were distributed nationally and online.

Officials say the recalled was triggered by a consumer complaint and added that there has been one reported reaction associated with the consumption of the products.

In an update issued Tuesday, the CFIA says additional product information was identified during their food safety investigation.

“Do not consume recalled products to which you are allergic or sensitive as they may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction,” the CFIA says.

“Do not serve, use, sell or distribute recalled products. Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased.”
