Three different models of “unauthorized” smoke detectors are being recalled across Canada due to a risk of failure, Health Canada says.

Three different models of “unauthorized” smoke detectors are being recalled across Canada due to a risk of failure, Health Canada says.

The recalls are for the Ariza Independent Smoke Alarm with model number S100B-CR, Wolf Shield Optical Smoke Alarm with model number KD-108A, and the Dual-Function Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm with model number WJ-SC05.

Health Canada says all three models are “unauthorized products” and have a “potential failure to operate.”

The smoke detectors do not have a Canadian certification mark “and it is unknown if the alarm operates in the presence of smoke, posing a potential fire hazard.”

Health Canada says there were 679 units sold of the Ariza Independent Smoke Alarm, 288 units of the Wolf Shield Optical Smoke Alarm, and 321 units the Dual-Function Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled products and replace them with a smoke detector that bears a Canadian certification mark.
