RECALL: Thousands of cameras could pose fire hazard in Canada

Thousands of cameras have been recalled in Canada due to possible burn and fire hazards, officials say.

Health Canada said in a notice that incorrect assembly instructions could cause consumers to puncture the lithium-ion battery’s metal casing.

That could cause the battery to rapidly overheat, leading to fire or burn hazards, officials said.

The affected product is the Wyze Solar Cam Pan outdoor security camera that has the model number WYZESCPWH, which can be found on the back of the camera.

“The product is a battery-powered, solar assisted, wireless camera equipped with motorized pan and tilt functionality, integrated lithium-ion battery and an integrated solar panel for recharging,” Health Canada noted.

There were 2,562 sold in Canada from October 2025 to April of this year; 321,360 were sold in the United States.

As of May 5, the company hasn’t received any reports of incidents or injuries in Canada, the notice said.

But in the U.S., the company has received 12 reports of incidents and five reports of burn injuries.

“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled Wyze Solar Cam Pan and visit the Wyze Labs Inc website for the company’s refund process,” Health Canada said.

More information about the recall can also be found on that website.

The company can also be reached by phone at 1-888-832-7226 or by email at [email protected].
