A certain seasoning has been recalled in Canada “due to possible salmonella contamination,” officials say.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency said that the recall was triggered by test results, adding that there haven’t been any reported illnesses associated with the product.
The affected product is the Alarjawi brand Royal Zaatar.
It’s 450 g in size, has the UPC number 6 212055 036239 and the following codes are impacted: P: 29/04/2025 E: 28/10/2026 K1.
It was distributed in Ontario, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Quebec, and Nova Scotia.

Consumers are being advised to check to see if they have the product.
It shouldn’t be used and should instead be thrown out or returned to where it was purchased, the CFIA said.
“Food contaminated with salmonella may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick. Young children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems may contract serious and sometimes deadly infections,” the agency said.
“Healthy people may experience short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Long-term complications may include severe arthritis.”
The CFIA said it’s conducting an investigation which could lead to more recalls.
“The CFIA is verifying that industry is removing recalled products from the marketplace,” officials said.
