RECALL: Products sold at Walmart recalled in Canada

Ontario residents are urged to check their homes for an item that poses safety risks, including fire hazards.


Magic Relighting Candles

The affected products include various trick relighting candles, which are designed to spontaneously reignite after being blown out. The recalled items were sold under multiple names, including:

  • LLC 10pcs 20pcs Funny Trick Relighting Candle Birthday Cake Decors Party Joke Xmas Gift

  • Candle – for Kids & Fun-Loving Adults 2pcs

The candles were available through third-party sellers on Walmart.ca Marketplace and have since been removed from sale.

According to Canada.ca, relight candles are banned under the Candles Regulations of the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act. These products pose a serious fire hazard, as they can spontaneously reignite after being blown out and may reignite after disposal, increasing the risk of accidental fires.

Walmart.ca Marketplace reported that six units of the affected products were sold in Canada.

Risks: Poses fire hazards

What you should do: Stop using the affected products and dispose of them according to municipal hazardous waste guidelines.

As of March 16, no incidents or injuries have been reported in connection with the recalled candles.
