A possible “loss of steering control” has prompted a vehicle recall in Canada.
“On certain vehicles, the bolt used to attach the lower steering shaft to the steering gear may not have been tightened properly,” Transport Canada said in a notice.
“As a result, the connection could loosen and cause a loss of steering control.”
Officials said the affected vehicles are the 2023 and 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQE sedan, as well as the 2023 to 2026 Mercedez-Benz GLC Class.
There are 563 vehicles in Canada affected by the recall.
Transport Canada said that Mercedes will notify owners by mail and advise them to take their vehicle to a dealership for an inspection and, if needed, a tightening or replacement of the lower steering shaft bolt.
