Canada The manufacturer of a popular shampoo has recalled the product across Canada due to possible bacterial contamination.
The recall is for specific lots of the Oribe Serene Scalp Densifying Shampoo, sold in the U.S. and Canada in 250-millilitre and 1-litre bottles, according to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration.
Manufacturer Kao USA says the lots have a possible contamination of Pluralibacter gergoviae bacteria, which could cause infections in people with a weakened immune system.
The voluntary recall is for lots marked with UPC 840035231242, UPC 840035231273 printed on the bottom of the bottle in black, and begin with the prefix “YR”: o YR010556 and o YR010576.
Kao USA is urging anyone who has affected products to discontinue use, and says it is working with the FDA to voluntarily recall the affected lots, as well as asking retail and salon partners to remove affected lots from use and sale.
