A certain ice cream product that was sold at Costco in Canada has been recalled.
Costco announced the recall in a notice posted on its website, affecting Desi-Licious Kulfi Ice Cream Sticks.
The notice said Gelda Foods is recalling certain lot codes of the product due to possible salmonella contamination.
The impacted lot codes are the following: 4283, 4284, 4297, 4303, 4304, 4305, 4306, 4310, 5126, 5127, 5130, 5132, 5134, 5136, 5140, 5143, 5148, 5149, 5157, 5168 and 5169.
The number can be found on the front of the package, above the best before date.
The notice said the impacted products were sold at Costco warehouses or business centres in Canada between Oct. 17 and Dec. 2.
Consumers were advised to not eat or distribute the ice cream.
It can be brought back to Costco for a full refund.
“Food contaminated with salmonella may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick,” the notice said.
“Young children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems may contract serious and sometimes deadly infections. Healthy people may experience short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Long-term complications may include severe arthritis.”
