Sausages sold in Ontario have been recalled

A dessert that was sold in Canada has been recalled over salmonella concerns.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency said in a notice that the recall was triggered by the company.

“The affected product is being recalled from the marketplace due to possible salmonella contamination,” officials said.

The product is the Shirreza brand Tahini Halva with Date Sap.

It’s 400 g in size, has the UPC number 6 261747 302923 and the following code is affected: BB: 12-27.

It was distributed in Ontario and British Columbia.

Consumers are being advised to check to see if they have the recalled product.

“Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased,” the CFIA said.

Food that’s contaminated with salmonella could make you sick even if it doesn’t look or smell spoiled.

“Young children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems may contract serious and sometimes deadly infections,” officials said.

“Healthy people may experience short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Long-term complications may include severe arthritis.”

In this case, there haven’t been any reported illnesses associated with the product.
