Attachments for certain cleaning products have been recalled amid 160 reported injuries in the United States and one in Canada.
In a notice published Thursday, Health Canada said the attachments for certain steam cleaners “can unexpectedly detach … and expel hot water or steam onto users during use, posing a burn hazard.”
“This recall involves attachments for Bissell brand Steam Shot OmniReach and Steam Shot Omni Steam Cleaners, model numbers: 4171B, 4171C, 4171D, 4171H, 4171J, and 4171X,” officials said.

As of March 19, the company has received one report of hot water or steam unexpectedly escaping from the attachments in Canada, resulting in one burn injury.
In the U.S., the company has received 205 reports of hot water or steam unexpectedly escaping, including 160 reports of burn injuries.
There were 95,788 units of the affected products sold in Canada from October 2024 to March 2026, while 1,211,522 were sold in the United States.
Consumers are being advised to stop using them and to contact Bissell for free new attachments.
“Consumers should visit www.steamshot2026.com to register for the recall and for instructions on how to participate in the recall, including how to upload a photo showing proof of disposal of the affected products,” Health Canada said.
