Some 144,000 F-150 pickup trucks are being recalled across Canada, the Ford Motor Company says.
The safety recall has been issued for 2015-2017 F-150s with a six-speed automatic transmission, the automaker said in a statement to INsauga.com.
Ford says degradation of electrical connections in the internal transmission lead frame can cause an intermittent signal from the transmission range sensor, and could lead to an unexpected downshift into a lower gear while the vehicle is in motion.
Impacted owners can get updated Powertrain Control Module software from a Ford dealer to address the issue.
Ford will replace the transmission lead frame at no cost to the customer “if a vehicle previously exhibited specific diagnostic trouble codes related to this sensor prior to the software installation,” the company says.
Canadian Ford owners can check if their vehicle is included in this recall by entering their Vehicle Identification Number when visiting www.ford.ca/support/recalls/.
