1.2 million food and drink containers recalled in Canada, Thermos

More than 1.2 million food and drink containers that were sold in Canada have been recalled.

Health Canada said in a notice that they pose could pose a serious injury hazard.

“If perishable food or beverages are stored in the container for an extended period of time, the stopper can forcefully eject when opened, posing serious impact injury and laceration hazards,” officials said.

As of June 24, the company has received 10 reports of incidents in Canada and three reports of injuries.

Certain Thermos brand products are affected.

Specifically, the Thermos Stainless King Food Jars with the model numbers SK3000 and SK3020 manufactured before July 2023, as well as the Thermos Sportsman Food & Beverage Bottle with the model number SK3010 that was discontinued in 2016.

“The stopper of the recalled Food Jars and Food & Beverage Bottles does not have a pressure relief in the center,” Health Canada said.

The containers were sold in a variety of colours.

They were sold in sizes of 16-oz (470 ml) for the model number SK3000, 24-oz (710 ml) for the model number SK3020, and 40-oz (1.2 L) for the model number SK3010.

The model numbers can be found on the bottom of the containers.

There were 1,209,104 of the containers sold in Canada from January 2009 to November 2021.

Consumers were advised to immediately stop using the recalled products and visit Thermos’ website for more information.
