Oakville residents can voice their opposition Friday (Apr. 22) to the province’s purposed construction of Highway 413.

A rally to stop the building of the controversial highway that will run through York, Peel and Halton regions is being held tomorrow afternoon from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Trafalgar Rd. and Cornwall Rd.

The event is being put on by Oakville Climate Action, Halton Action for Climate Emergency Now (HACEN), Oakvillegreen Conservation Association, Grandmothers Act to Save the Planet (GASP), StopSprawlHalton, Environmental Defence and Oakville Climate Hub.

Environmental activists estimate the four-to-six lane highway could pour an estimated 17 million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions into the air by 2040.

Building Highway 413 would pave over farm, forests, wetlands and a portion of the Greenbelt and cost taxpayers billions.
