A rainfall warning has been issued for Mississauga and Brampton.

Environment Canada is warning residents of heavy rain and thunderstorms, which will continue throughout Tuesday during the day and into the night.

As of Tuesday afternoon, 25 mm of rain has been reported in certain areas, and the total amount is expected to reach between 50 and 75 mm by the evening.

According to the Credit Valley Conservation, flooding along the Credit River is not expected.

However, heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads, and localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.

Additionally, heavy rainfall in combination with other weather factors, such as hail, wind and lightning can make outdoor activities unsafe.
