Rain warning in effect in Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton and Halton

Special weather statement

A special weather statement has been issued for Mississauga, Brampton, Halton, Hamilton and surrounding areas.

Environment Canada issued a warning of heavy rain which is expected today (July 29).

These showers and thunderstorms will begin in the late morning and are expected to clear up sometime in the afternoon.

Wind speeds could also pick up to 20 km/h.

Meteorologists predict the accumulation of 30-50 mm of rain with the possibility of greater amounts depending on the area.

“Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible,” the warning statement read.

Residents concerned of possible flooding, are asked to consult their local Conservation Authority or Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry office for more information.
