Quebec man charged after stabbing Halton Hills group home employee

A Quebec man has been charged after stabbing an employee of a group home in Halton Hills on Saturday morning (Aug. 20).

Halton Regional Police received reports of a stabbing at group home in the area of Third Line and 32 Side Road and upon arrival there just before 9:30 a.m. found a victim suffering from several lacerations.

The accused 36-year-old male from Quebec had attended the home to remove a family member who lives there.

While attempting to do so, an altercation ensued between the accused and victim, an employee of the group home, resulting in the victim being stabbed.

The accused male fled the scene with the family member in a vehicle and was involved in a collision in the area of 32 Side Road and Fourth Line in Halton Hills.

Officers would locate and arrest the accused, who was walking in the area of the vehicle along with the family member.

A 36-year-old male from Quebec has been charged with:

  • Break and Enter
  • Attempt Murder
  • Kidnapping

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

The group home employee was transported to hospital with serious injuries. The family member was not injured and was safely returned to the home.

Halton police say due to the nature of the investigation and relationships between the involved parties, the identity of the accused is not being released and no further details will be provided at this time.
