Purse stolen in St Catharines has urn inside

A purse stolen in St Catharines back on July 3 may have contained a little more than the thief anticipated.

Thinking her Jeep was locked, a woman left her purse in the vehicle parked at the corner of Welland Avenue and Court Street. She returned to find the purse missing.

Inside that purse? An urn containing the ashes of her late husband. Tucked neatly away inside a velvet bag was also his wallet, complete with driver’s licence and possibly a cancelled credit card or two.

So far there has been no luck recovering the purse so the woman and the police are requesting the public’s assistance in recovering “the very sentimental items.”
