Province sees highest daily COVID-19 cases since mid-June

The province is reporting 378 new COVID-19 cases today, August 7 (up 38 from yesterday) and nine deaths (down nine from yesterday). There are 94 new cases in Toronto, 62 in York Region, 38 in Peel (Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon), 30 in Hamilton, 20 in Durham Region and 20 in the Region of Waterloo.
The last time the province reported a higher case count was June 16, 2021, when it reported 384 new cases.
Since yesterday, 149 more cases are considered resolved and nearly 20,900 more tests completed.
19,825,240 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Ontario to date, including 61,041 doses administered yesterday, August 6.
Ontario marked three weeks on Friday since entering the third step of its pandemic reopening plan, but it has yet to hit the vaccination targets set for restrictions to roll back further, which means current restrictions will remain in place for now.
