Province reports highest COVID-19 cases in almost half a year, 135 people in ICU

The province is reporting 964 new COVID-19 cases today, Nov. 28 (up 110 from yesterday) and one new death, with the seven-day case average rising to 761.

Today’s cases are the highest in a single day since the province reported 1,033 cases on May 30, 2021.

There are 129 new cases in Toronto, 60 in York, 58 in Peel (Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon), 42 in Durham, 41 in Halton, 29 in Niagara region, and 22 in Hamilton.

“Individuals who are not fully vaccinated represent 23.6% of Ontario’s total population and amount to 519 of Ontario’s 964 new reported cases,” said Health Minister Christine Elliott.

122 people are hospitalized with COVID-19, and 135 people are in ICU.

22,928,466 vaccine doses have been administered in Ontario to date, with nearly 89.6% of residents 12+ having received one dose and 86.3% having received two doses.

As of Nov. 23, children aged five to 11 are now eligible to book an appointment to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
