Province reports 1,930 new COVID-19 cases, 110 in Mississauga and Brampton

The province is reporting 1,930 new COVID-19 cases today, Mar. 5 (down 155 from yesterday) and 24 more deaths, with the seven-day case average falling to 1,818.

There are 110 new cases in Peel (Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon), 89 in Durham, 81 in Niagara Region, 63 in Halton and 59 in Hamilton.

795 people are hospitalized with COVID-19, of which 44% were admitted to the hospital for COVID-19 and 56% were admitted for other reasons but have tested positive for COVID-19, according to Health Minister Christine Elliott.

Of the 253 people in the ICU with COVID-19, 78% of patients were admitted for COVID-19 and 22% were admitted for other reasons but have tested positive for COVID-19.

31,773,683 vaccine doses have been administered in Ontario to date, with 92.7% of Ontario residents 12+ having received one dose and 90.6% having received two doses.

With cases on the decline, mask mandates are expected to be lifted by end of March in Mississauga, Brampton and the rest of the province.
