Province reports 1,476 new COVID-19 cases, 96 in Mississauga and Brampton

The province is reporting 1,476 new COVID-19 cases today, Dec. 12 (down 131 from yesterday) and eight more deaths, with the seven-day case average rising to 1,236.
There are 96 new cases in Peel (Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon), 67 in Hamilton, 57 in Durham, 52 in Halton, and 43 in Niagara Region.
“Individuals who are not fully vaccinated represent 23.1% of Ontario’s total population and amount to 612 of Ontario’s 1,476 new reported cases,” said Health Minister Christine Elliott. “93 cases are in individuals with an unknown vaccination status.”
222 people are hospitalized with COVID-19, and 158 people are in ICU due to COVID-19.
24,449,726 vaccine doses have been administered in Ontario to date, with 90.3% of Ontarians 12+ having received one dose and 87.6% having received two doses.
Starting this week on December 13, the province says individuals 50+ will be eligible to book their COVID-19 vaccine booster dose if at least six months have passed since their last dose.
