Province reports 13,362 new COVID-19 cases, over 1,700 in Mississauga and Brampton

The province is reporting 13,362 new COVID-19 cases today, Jan. 8 (up 1,463 from yesterday) and 30 more deaths, with the seven-day case average falling to 13,118.

There are 1,736 new cases in Peel (Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon), 929 in Hamilton, 783 in Halton, 770 in Durham, and 424 in Niagara Region.

There are 385 people in ICU with COVID-19, of which 248 are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status and 137 are fully vaccinated.

“The seven-day rolling average of COVID-19 related patients in ICU is 295,” says Health Minister Christine Elliott.

28,324,152 vaccine doses have been administered in Ontario to date, including over 184,000 doses administered yesterday, Jan. 7.

91.1% of Ontarians 12+ have gotten one dose and 88.4% have gotten two doses.
