Province reports 1,184 new COVID-19 cases, 81 in Mississauga and Brampton

The province is reporting 1,184 new COVID-19 cases today, Dec. 5 (up 131 from yesterday) and no new deaths, with the seven-day case average rising to 926.

There are 152 new cases in Toronto, 88 in York, and 81 in Peel (Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon), 56 in Halton, 41 in Niagara region, 36 in Hamilton, and 18 in Durham.

“Individuals who are not fully vaccinated represent 23.4% of Ontario’s total population and amount to 579 of Ontario’s 1,184 new reported cases,” said Health Minister Christine Elliott.

140 people are currently hospitalized with COVID-19, and a further 164 people are in ICU.

23,976,361 vaccine doses have been administered in Ontario to date, with 90.1% of Ontarians 12+ having received one dose and 87.3% having received two doses.

Ontario recently confirmed its first cases of the Omicron variant, with Peel Region confirming its first case on Saturday.
