Province reporting over 4,000 COVID-19 hospitalizations, 820 new cases in Mississauga and Brampton

The province is reporting 6,473 new COVID-19 cases today, Jan. 22 (down 692 from yesterday) and 47 more deaths, with the seven-day case average falling to 7,599.
There are 820 new cases in Peel (Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon), 326 in Hamilton, 304 in Halton, 290 in Durham, and 244 in Niagara Region.
4,026 people are hospitalized with COVID-19, of which 56% were admitted to the hospital for COVID-19 and 44% were admitted for other reasons but have tested positive for COVID-19, according to Health Minister Christine Elliott.
600 people are in ICU with COVID-19, of which 81% were admitted to the ICU for COVID-19 and 19% were admitted for other reasons but have tested positive for COVID-19.
29,977,268 vaccine doses have been administered in Ontario to date, with over 104,000 doses administered yesterday, Jan. 21.
91.6% of Ontario residents 12+ have received one dose and 88.9% have received two doses.
