Province reporting more than 3,000 new COVID-19 cases for two days in a row

Ontario’s daily COVID-19 case count is continuing to climb, with the province reporting 3,009 new COVID-19 cases today (April 3) and 3,089 cases on Good Friday (April 2).

23 and 16 deaths linked to the virus were reported on April 2 and 3, respectively.

Today, there are 954 new cases in Toronto, 434 in Peel, 348 in York Region, 205 in Ottawa, 146 in Hamilton, and 91 in Halton.

Peel saw 539 new cases on April 2, the region’s highest daily case count since January 22.

Since yesterday, 1,819 more cases in Ontario are considered resolved and over 59,100 additional tests completed.

As of 8:00 p.m. yesterday, 2,424,063 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Ontario.

A province-wide shutdown went into effect starting today (April 3) and will last at least four weeks in an effort to reduce case numbers and hospitalizations across the province.
