Province reporting 715 new COVID-19 cases, 182 people in ICU

The province is reporting 715 new COVID-19 cases today, Sept. 19 (down 106 from yesterday) and six new deaths, with the seven-day average falling to 709.

There are 139 new cases in Toronto, 68 in York, 68 in Hamilton, 59 in Peel (Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon), 41 in Niagara, 26 in Halton, and 19 in Durham.

Of today’s new cases, it’s reported that 540 cases are in individuals who are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status, and 175 are in fully vaccinated individuals.

245 people are hospitalized with COVID-19, and 182 people are in the ICU, according to Health Minister Christine Elliott.

To date, 21,387,650 vaccine doses have been administered in Ontario, with 85.0% of Ontarians 12+ having one dose and nearly 79.0% having two doses.

Beginning this week on Wednesday, September 22, the province will begin mandating proof of vaccination to access certain businesses and establishments.
