Province providing funding for Young Street/Queen Street reconstruction project in Halton Hills

The Town of Halton Hills has announced the Young Street/Queen Street reconstruction project in Acton will benefit from funding from the Province.

The Town of Halton Hills has announced the Young Street/Queen Street reconstruction project in Acton will benefit from funding from the Province.

The Province will be providing the project with $1,485,000 in funding as part of the Ontario government’s COVID-19 response that injected an additional $10M to the Connecting Links Program that provides funding to municipalities to repair roads and bridges.

“This infusion of funds is most welcome and I wish to thank the Minister for selecting one of Halton Hills’ projects,” Mayor Rick Bonnette said in a news release.

“At a time when we, like all municipalities are prioritizing work given COVID-19 impacts, I am pleased that the Province has recognized the importance of investing in local infrastructure,” he continued.

The Young Street section of the project began in June and involves the replacement of storm sewers and full reconstruction of the road. Construction for this section is expected to be completed by September.

The Queen Street section of the project is currently under design and construction is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2021.
