The Province is congratulating Durham Region for being one of just eight regions in Ontario where fully vaccinated numbers are above 80 per cent, though local data suggests the region is not quite there yet.

According to provincial data, 86 per cent of Durham residents have received at least one dose while 80 per cent are fully vaccinated. Data from Durham Region’s Health Department, however, show a slightly different picture.

Eighteen-plus residents in Durham who have received a single jab stands at 82.2 per cent, while 77.3 per cent of residents over 18 are fully vaccinated. For the 12-plus population – the people who are currently eligible for the vaccine – it’s 82 per cent and 76.6 per cent.

Other regions in Ontario that the Province says are 80 per cent fully vaccinated include Halton (82), Huron-Perth (86), Leeds, Grenville and Lanark (93), Ottawa (87), Waterloo (87), Thunder Bay (89) and Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph (85).
