All contractors, vendors and service providers working at Region facilities in Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon will soon need to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination.

The Region made the announcement on Monday and said all current vendors with Region contracts require “to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have a legally valid exemption” by Dec. 17.

Vendors will need to complete a form confirming staff have been vaccinated against COVID-19, and those who fail to confirm “may not be permitted to have contractor personnel attend any Peel worksites,” the Region said in a statement.

Janice Baker, CAO for the Region, said the policy “will help ensure a safe and healthy environment for everyone at our Regional worksites.”

The Region already has proof of COVID-19 vaccination requirements for all Regional employees, as well as for volunteers at any hockey arenas, fitness centres and other indoor municipal fitness facilities.

The first confirmed case of the new COVID-19 Omicron variant was identified in Peel on Saturday.

Peel Public Health reported 51 new cases of the virus across the Region on Monday. Of those new cases, 29 were in Mississauga, 22 were in Brampton, and no new cases were identified in Caledon.
