There is a Pro-Palestinian peaceful gathering set to happen in Mississauga today Nov. 4.

According to muslimlink.ca, the Oakville Palestinian Rights Association (OPRA) is hosting a silent vigil honouring the children of Gaza outside of Mississauga City Hall located at 300 City Centre Dr.

The invitation details state, “For over two weeks, the Zionist Occupation has been relentlessly bombing Gaza – targeting civilian infrastructure, UNWRA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency) schools, hospitals, and places of worship. As of Oct. 23, over 1 million Palestinians have been displaced.”

The event will begin at 4 p.m., paying tribute to the 5,000 Palestinians killed— including 2,000 children.

Attendees are encouraged to bring candles and wear keffiyeh – a traditional headdress, as a symbol of remembrance.

Those who plan to attend are advised to dress appropriately as the event will happen regardless of weather conditions.

Last week, police cautioned motorists about potential traffic disruptions, citing planned demonstrations in the Mississauga area including a vigil for Gaza, where attendees paid tribute to the martyrs.

Peel Regional Police or the City of Mississauga have not mentioned (as of yet) if this afternoon’s silent vigil will impact travel times for motorists and public transit in the area.

Residents can expect multiple organized vigils or rallies throughout Ontario this weekend.
