Several Liberal politicians were in Brampton to celebrate Diwali and Bandi Chhor Divas on Thursday (November 4).

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Anita Anand, MP for Oakville, joined Ruby Sahota, MP for Brampton North; Maninder Sidhu, MP for Brampton East; Sonia Sidhu, MP for Brampton South; Kamal Khera, MP for Brampton West, and Shafqat Ali, MP for Brampton Centre to celebrate Diwali in Flower City.

The recently-elected MPs celebrated the holiday with residents, including helping make boxes of sweets to give out to families at a local restaurant.

Diwali is a religious festival celebrated by Hindus, Jains, Sikhs, and some Buddhists. It symbolizes the spiritual “victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance,” and it usually lasts five days between mid-October and mid-November.
