Drivers in Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton and many other parts of Southern Ontario can expect to pay 202.9 cents per litre for gas by this time tomorrow.

Dan McTeague of Canadians for Affordable Energy, a watchdog group for energy prices and the fuel industry, told members of the media today (May 13) that after a bump in prices this morning, the cost will rise another five cents in the next 24 hours.

The 202.9 cent level will again be another record breaker for the province.

And it’s not going to get better any time soon, according to McTeague who predicts the price will continue to soar throughout the summer months.

McTeague predicts prices could reach $2.10 in time for the long weekend and by mid summer he expects the cost of gas to be $2.20.

He cited supply and demand, the weak Canadian dollar and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine as some of the reasons behind the rising prices.
