For the third day in a row, there is a sizable power outage in Hamilton.

This morning, Alectra Utilities says there is an outage on the east Mountain that will last until mid-afternoon. The outage area is just south of Mohawk Sports Park. It is in the area of Mohawk Road East to Rymal Rd. E. and between Upper Gage Avenue to Pritchard Rd., with an expected time of resumption of 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon (July 13).

About 889 homes and businesses have been affected. The count was down to 29 as of 2 p.m. Tuesday.

The affected area is just west of where a forced outage was ordered by the Hamilton Fire Department ordered an outage on Monday afternoon as it battled a residential fire that caused $10-million in damage. Tuesday, an outage that affected close to 2,000 customers happened in the northeast part of the city.

During a power outage, any controlled intersections where traffic lights are nonfunctional should be treated as four-way stops.

Alectra’s progress at restoring service may be tracked at horizonutilities.com.
