A power outage is affecting hundreds of homes and businesses in downtown Hamilton Friday morning (June 24).

Alectra Utilities is reporting a limited power outage in the area between James to Locke Streets and Aberdeen and Main Street affecting 1896 customers.

The cause of the outage is, the utility provider said, an underground distribution problem.

Crews have been dispatched to make repairs and Alectra estimates that power will be restored by 10:30 a.m.
