Power outage affects more than 500 customers in Mississauga

UPDATE: As of just before 3:30 p.m., the power has been restored in the area of southwest Mississauga that had been in the dark since about 1:20 p.m., according to Alectra.

 

A power outage in southwest Mississauga has impacted more than 500 customers this afternoon.

According to Alectra Utilities, the outage was reported just before 1:30 p.m. and is affecting 542 homes and businesses in the area of Lakeshore Road and Southdown Road. Specifically, customers impacted are located to the northeast of that intersection, from Truscott Drive to Lakeshore Road and from Southdown Road to Lorne Park Road.

Alectra said in a post to social media crews are on the scene and it expects power to be restored by 4:30 p.m.

An area resident told insauga.com that high winds were impacting the area just before the outage.

There were several other minor power outages in north Mississauga this morning and during Tuesday afternoon’s thunderstorm, 4,210 homes and businesses in the area of Mavis Road, Hurontario Street, Central Parkway East and Kennedy Road lost power.
