Lockdown: Two in custody after post about gun on social media at Brampton high school

Police have two youths in custody following a weapons call and lockdown at a Brampton high school.

Peel Regional Police say Sandalwood Heights Secondary School at 2671 Sandalwood Pkwy. East was placed on lockdown shortly before 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning after receiving reports of social media posts about a gun.

Police said the post was made by a student and the school was been placed on lockdown as a precaution.

No injuries were reported and police had a visible presence at the school while officers investigated.

Police said shortly before 12 p.m. that two young persons had been taken into custody and a replica firearm was recovered by investigators.

The investigation is ongoing. Police have not said if any changes are pending, and have not disclosed any additional details about the youths.
