One person is dead and another has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries following a head-on collision involving a transport truck on Highway 403 in Ancaster Wednesday morning (June 30).

Burlington OPP is currently on the scene of the collision that occurred at around 9:30 a.m.

A full closure of the 403 westbound, near Highway 6 South and the 403 eastbound near Garner Road is in effect as collision reconstruction crews remain on the scene.

According to the OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt, a transport truck travelling in the Toronto-bound direction on the 403 crossed the centre lane and struck an oncoming, westbound vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead on the scene and the truck driver has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Motorists should expect significant delays and are being urged to avoid the area for the next few hours as the investigation continues and the collision is cleared away.
