Port Colborne ATV driver arrested for riding with baby strapped to chest

A Port Colborne all-terrain vehicle driver faces several charges after they were stopped on the road with a baby strapped to their chest.

A witness called Niagara Regional Police Service on June 23. They reported an ATV driver was headed down King St. near Main Street West in Port Colborne.

On arrival police found the ATV and pulled the driver over. They found a 7-month old baby strapped to the driver’s chest in a carrier and wearing a bicycle helmet.

Police will not divulge the driver’s name to protect the baby’s identity. However, the driver was charged dangerous driving, driving with a suspended licence, driving without insurance, driving without a plate and failure to provide insurance documents.

They have been released with conditions under a Form 10 order and will appear in a Welland courthouse on September 22.
