Rogers and Fido will no longer be offering a type of phone service come December.

Both have announced an end to prepaid services, effective Dec. 16.

Notices on the companies’ websites advise customers of the upcoming change.

They suggest changing to a different plan , or switching to Chatr for prepaid options, which is part of the same company.

Fido is also owned by Rogers.

Customers using the prepaid service with Rogers or Fido were advised to contact the company in order to keep their phone number and avoid losing service.
