Popular Oakville sandwich shop returns under new ownership

Gourmet Italian sandwiches, salad and quiches are being served up once again at a favourite Oakville restaurant.

Sandwich Society, located on 146 Kerr St., is holding a Grand Opening Celebration on Saturday, May 6 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The eatery, which has new ownership, features Italian gourmet style sandwiches, quiches, charcuterie boards, a salad bar and coffee and desserts.

To celebrate its opening, a variety of events are on tap for the special day:

• 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. – Special workstation for kids. Create your own sandwich
• 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. – Ribbon cutting ceremony with the Mayor of Oakville and Honorary Consul of Switzerland
• 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. – Magical moments with Mark the Magician

The sandwich shop’s new owners are Sandra and Laurent Rossier. Originally from Switzerland, this family of four moved to Canada after having spent 20 years in Asia.

The couple aim to create the go-to place in Oakville for Italian gourmet style sandwiches, charcuterie boards, grazing boxes, picnic baskets and more.

Catering services for companies and private households will also be available.

“Together with our wonderful team, we take great pride in producing highest quality products using fresh ingredients, locally sourced whenever possible,” said Laurent. “And, of course, the bread is baked fresh on a daily basis thanks to our amazing baker!”

The previous owners ran the business for four years before closing it in mid-June of last year.
