A thriving resto bar that has a “smokey in a good way” cottage-country affect is coming to downtown Hamilton.

Plank Restobar, a chef-driven eatery that focuses on food that is fresh, seasonal, and locally sourced, will be opening in a matter of weeks on Augusta St., between James and Hughson. Plank, whose flagship location is in the Bronte Village section of Oakville, focuses on seasonal small plates, gourmet pizza and craft cocktails. The expansion to Hamilton has been announced on Plank’s website, and it announced this week it has begun hiring for the new spot.

On Augusta St., the establishment will join the array of nearby nightlife and hangout spots, including The Pheasant Plucker, Radius, The Ship, B-Side Social and Odds.

Foodies have described Plank as having a décor that is straight out of Muskoka cottage country. The building materials for the Oakville location include reclaimed wood from Waterloo Region century homes and the inside of California wine barrels. Salvaged vintage items also hang on the walls. The price range for a menu that includes creations such as cauliflower fritters and duck poutine is described as being in line with chains such as Jack Astor’s.

Plank is rated 4.4 stars out of 5 from nearly 1,500 Google Reviews. It has 4 stars on Yelp, where reviewers have hailed the food as “freaking delicious.”
