A popular restaurant/bar in west Oakville has closed its doors for good to make way for a new six-storey development that will serve as the gateway to Bronte.

With its lease coming to an end, West End Social, located at 2432 Lakeshore Rd. W., has made the decision to permanently shut down.

The local establishment was owned by the Catch Hospitality Group, which took over the location back in 2018 from the old Coach & Four bar.

West End Social is one of 18 businesses that are being displaced once construction begins this fall on the new condo development at the southeast corner of Lakeshore Rd. W. and Bronte Rd.

The bar was a hit with local residents and was known for its “great atmosphere” and service.

“West End Social is fantastic,” said customer Lisa Knowles in a Google review of the bar. “Third visit within the last month. . . Definitely recommend for a great night out.”

The mixed-use development in Bronte will have some 188 residential units with 283 parking spaces and will include retail and amenity space below with residential units above.
