If you regularly shopped at Topshop/Topman, a UK-based brand located inside various Hudson’s Bay stores in Mississauga and Halton, you might be sad to hear that the company will be exiting Canada for good.

According to a recent Retail Insider report, Canadian Topshop and Topman locations–which are currently closed to in-person shopping in Ontario due to COVID-19 restrictions on non-essential retail–will be closing by Sept. 30, 2021.

Over the past 10 years, Topshop/Topman stores opened in Square One in Mississauga, Oakville Place in Oakville and Burlington Mall in Burlington.

The company also launched locations in Toronto.

Retail Insider says the move to shutter the locations follows the administration filing of Topshop in the UK and the company’s subsequent acquisition by ASOS.

According to the report, Topshop/Topman operated over 500 stores globally prior to the bankruptcy.

According to Retail Insider, most employees who worked the Canadian locations will be offered jobs elsewhere.

“We have been able to secure transfer opportunities within Hudson’s Bay for the majority of impacted associates,” Hudson’s Bay said in a statement provided to Retail Insider.

It is not yet clear what Hudson’s Bay will do with the empty storefronts once Topshop/Topman officially exit the country.
