One of Ontario’s most bustling cities has a brand new arena that’s set to host a number of world-famous acts in the coming year, including a boy band still beloved by fans across the province (and the country).

Today, the TD Coliseum, a Hamilton venue that is currently undergoing a $290 million renovation, announced that the Jonas Brothers will make their first-ever appearance in Hamilton at the arena this December.

The announcement comes after weeks of reveals from the new entertainment hub, which have included its official name, its huge full-service restaurant (and the famous chef behind it), and the Paul McCartney show that will officially open the arena.

The band, made up of brothers Joe, Nick and Kevin Jonas, recently announced plans to perform at the TD Coliseum during the North American leg of their JONAS20: Greetings From Your Hometown tour, which kicked off in August.

The show will take place on Dec. 14, and Jesse McCartney will join as a special guest.

Earlier today, the Coliseum also announced that rapper Cardi B will be performing at the venue in March. In July, it was revealed that legendary Beatles frontman McCarthy will open the arena with a show on Nov. 21

In a news release, the TD Coliseum said the Jonas Brothers’ tour highlights every chapter of the band’s 20-year journey, blending early hits, solo offerings from Nick Jonas & the Administration and DNCE and brand-new tracks from their latest album Greetings From Your Hometown

Throughout the tour, the band has welcomed a number of high-profile guests on stage, including 5 Seconds of Summer, Alessia Cara, All Time Low, Dashboard Confessional, Fifth Harmony, Hanson, Hoobastank, Jack’s Mannequin, Jason Mraz, John Legend, JoJo, Machine Gun Kelly, Plain White T’s, Simple Plan, Sum 41, The Click Five, The Veronicas and more.

The news about the Jonas Brothers’ performance comes weeks after the sports and entertainment venue developer behind the arena, the Oak View Group, announced that the TD Coliseum (formerly known as the FirstOntario Centre and Copps Coliseum) will soon be home to The Iron Cow Public House, a full-service restaurant and bar run by celebrity chef Matty Matheson.

Earlier this year, Nick DeLuco, senior vice-president with the Oak View Group and general manager of the new Hamilton Arena, told INsauga.com that while the outside of the arena won’t change much when it reopens, the interior will be quite different from the one fans have known since the venue first opened its doors in 1985.

“There’s a whole new concourse that was hidden in the past, so accessibility and flow are different. There will be new restaurants, lounges, premium spaces that never existed before, and premium-level suites that have never been seen before,” he said in an earlier interview.

Last year, OVG first announced plans to significantly rejuvenate the arena by adding premium seating, clubs, lounges and suites, enhancing the acoustics and launching new restaurants and food concepts.  Designed by Brisbin Brook Beynon Architects and constructed by EllisDon, the new arena will feature an artist compound, transformed concourse areas, concessions on every level and more.

Tickets for Jonas Brothers will go on sale on Oct. 2 at 10 a.m. and can be purchased through Ticketmaster.ca.
