Popular American reality TV show set to film in Ontario

One of Ontario’s most picturesque regions–and one that many people frequent during the warmer months–is about to front and centre in a popular reality TV series.

Recently, NBCUniversal’s reality streaming service and Lark Productions announced that production has begun for Summer House Canada, the first international adaptation of the reality series Summer House, which first premiered in the US in 2017.

Previous seasons of the show have been filmed in the affluent Hamptons region of New York

In a news release, reality-TV streaming service Hayu announced that filming is underway in Muskoka, with the series set to launch exclusively on the platform in 2027.

Hayu said the show will feature a group of friends who will escape their day-to-day lives to unwind at the summer house on weekends. The beloved region, home to some of the country’s most impressive cottages and lakehouses, will “set the stage as relationships, careers and personal lives collide.”

“We’re thrilled to bring this adaptation of the standout Summer House format to the market – and Muskoka offers the perfect, iconic Canadian setting to introduce Summer House Canada and build on the franchise’s momentum,” said Hendrik McDermott, managing director, International DTC, NBCUniversal, in a news release.
